Buffalo high definition wireless media player

Cons: This item appeared to have a great community around it and mvix seemed to be contributing. Now we're still waiting for firmware that will fix this thing so that it has all the features it claims to have on the box.

Overall Review: I've had it for a while, played with it, enjoyed it, but I bought it expecting a mini computer that would survive some upgradability to support new features. I found out it didn't have all the features it claimed to have The NAS feature is a joke. Others have said it has other problems like breaking drives but I haven't experienced this. Pros: I hooked it up to my Sony Grang Wega and the playback is excellent. All file formats and music I commonly use are supported with the exception of Quicktime.

All the menus are simple and easy to use. I am still checking out the features. I also wish it was capable of using Quicktime formats. Pros: This unit has played every format I've thrown at it so far. The price of this compared to building an HTPC was great. Easy to use. Internal hard drive makes it even easier. Cons: A little hissing from surround speakers when mvix channel is selected possibly just bad cables, etc. Overall Review: I love this little machine.

I haven't regretted it. I would highly recommend this. Plays HD content. It now has ability to transfer content over the network. Has internal drive support. Video and audio playback quality is excellent. Cons: NDAS network transfer is slow, Playback of HD content from the network is jerky but is ok if played from the internal hard drive. GUI is very unintuitive.

Its very early in its development stage and firmware is released on a regular basis. I think we will see some amazing improvements over the next 6 months or so.

I was able to use Media Center to stream to the player anyways but lost support for. Also, the menu is not nearly as nice with having media center as the front end. Essentially, you now just have a list of files to select from. The fact that it is out of production means to us that there will be no further updates to the firmware or software.

Overall Review: I have contacted Buffalo about the lack of Vista support and inquired about a patch. At this point there is no plan for a workaround or a new software program that is Vista compatible. Sold by: Newegg Shipped by Newegg. Learn More.
